Special Care Nursery are looking for several Clinical Nurses to join their team. The Newborn Care Unit at Gold Coast University Hospital sits within the division of Women's, Newborn and Children’s Services. Currently there are 9 commissioned Neonatal Intensive Care Unit cots and 24 Special Care Nursery cots within the Newborn Care Unit. The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurses (Special Care Nursery) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will take responsibility for

  • Providing advanced neonatal nursing care for infants within the Newborn Care Unit
  • Providing teaching to both parents and their families in order to facilitate learning and enable them to move towards independence
  • Coordinating staff and manage resources as delegate, including reprioritising of departmental needs and supporting day to day changes. Resolve staff conflict or progress accordingly, reporting appropriately
  • Advanced assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills in the clinical management of consumer care and participation in multidisciplinary care planning

Requirements for the role

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or Midwifery or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).  Certified copies of relevant qualification and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties
  • It is a condition of employment in this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: as required by HR Policy B1 measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B

Salary information

  • Permanent full time and permanent part time (several positions, hrs negotiable)
  • Base salary ranging from $92,239 - $98,769 per annum, $46.51 - $49.81 per hour
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

About the Special Care Nursery

Currently there are 24 Special Care Nursery (SCN) cots within the Newborn Care Unit, admitting infants fulfilling up to Level 6 Queensland Clinical Services Capability Framework criteria which includes but is not limited to:

  • 24 weeks gestation and above
  • All forms of mechanical ventilation including HFOV
  • Nitric Oxide therapy
  • Therapeutic cooling
  • Parenteral Nutrition
  • Exchange transfusion
  • Neonatal surgical procedures
