About Geriatric Evaluation and Management / Acute Cognitive Unit
The Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit (GEM) provides comprehensive care for older patients, offering multidisciplinary support for both clinical issues functional rehabilitation which also includes an Acute Cognitive Unit (ACU) dedicated to managing patients living with dementia and experiencing severe Behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), providing a highly structured environment with psychogeriatric support.
About your new role
As a valued member of the GEM and ACU team, you will deliver comprehensive, person-centred, and evidence-based care within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment. Your focus will be on promoting the wellbeing of older adults by partnering closely with patients and their families to reduce the impact of hospitalisation and improve quality of life. This includes
- Applying advanced professional judgement to complex clinical problems to adapt routine clinical practice in the treatment of the Aged Care and the Elderly
- Facilitating the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical practices, procedures, and workplace guidelines
- Assisting the facility based Clinical Educator in providing student placement opportunities and clinical education
- Provide clinical leadership and high-level management skills by assisting the Assistant Director of Physiotherapy in monitoring and prioritising workload demands
Qualifications
- A tertiary degree in Physiotherapy
- Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- A post-graduate qualification within a rehabilitation field would be well regarded
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent full time
- Base salary ranging from $128 169 - $137 918 per annum
