About the Speech Pathology Unit

Gold Coast Health Speech Pathology provides services for infants, children and adults who have communication, swallowing and feeding disorders. Gold Coast Health employs approximately 70 speech pathologists and a number of dedicated speech pathology assistants.

About your new role

As a speech pathology assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting patient care through delegated clinical and non-clinical tasks. This position offers the opportunity to work within various caseloads across adult acute, rehabilitation, geriatric services, and paediatrics. You'll gain valuable experience in a collaborative team, helping deliver high-quality services under the guidance of experienced speech pathologists. This includes:

  • Providing a defined range of speech pathology clinical screening assessments as delegated
  • Providing a defined range of treatments as prescribed by a speech pathologist and work under their general direction
  • Independently contributing to therapy resources under the guidance of a speech pathologist
  • Communicating effectively and work collaboratively as part of a speech pathology and multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

  • A certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance would be highly desirable
  • Blue card / Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time and Permanent Part time (multiple positions, hours negotiable)
  • Base salary ranging from $68 471 - $71 983 per annum or $34.53 - $36.30 per hour
