About us:

BEMS has a main hub in Rockhampton and other locations throughout the Banana, Central Highlands and Gladstone Regions.

The Gladstone Maintenance Department as part of the Central Queensland Health (CQ Health) BEMS team has professional, administrative, operational and trades staff. The trades provided by in-house staff include refrigeration mechanic, electrical and plumbing.

About the role:

  • Ensure that all safe work practices are always adopted, that protective clothing and equipment provided is worn and used as recommended, including the implementation and enforcement of legislative requirements such as Workplace Health and Safety Act and the Health Services Act to safeguard the interests of Queensland Health and its employees.
  • Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position, including contemporary human resources management requirements and practices, such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination policies.
  • It is expected that the incumbent will undertake physical activities including but not limited to, bending, twisting, squatting.
  • Carry out minor works and new installations. Work with and guide external contractors and in house trades as required.

About you:

The successful applicant must hold a Plumbing Trade qualification and have a current Queensland Plumbing License.

  • Current Workplace Health and Safety General Safety Induction Card is mandatory.
  • Current Working at Heights and Confined Space Certification is mandatory.

While not mandatory, a restricted Electrical and Gas endorsement with roofing qualification is desirable.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $103,065 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $36.92 - $45.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
