About the role:
As the Clinical Director Anaesthesia and High Dependency Unit (HDU), you'll be responsible for the quality, cost efficiency and effective delivery of anaesthesia and HDU services at Gladstone Hospital and professional support to the Health Service.

You will be a key part of the clinical executive which leads and manages the Gladstone and Banana Anaesthesia team & HDU portfolio enabling high quality, contemporary services.
You'll possess extensive clinical experience with appropriate knowledge and skills extending across the range of Anaesthetic Services, with an ability to work in relative isolation.  

In this role you will provide:

  • strategic leadership and direction,
  • service planning,
  • effective management,
  • provision of anaesthesia and HDU services.

How you will be assessed
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the best fit for the role within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘The role' on the position description. You will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in leadership, organisation and management of an anaesthetic service.
  • Extensive clinical experience with appropriate knowledge and skills extending across the range of Anaesthetic Services, with an ability to work in relative isolation, deliver quality specialist care to patients in a clinical setting including directing the process of assessment, admission, ongoing care, transfer and discharge of patients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide medical care, including emergency care, in a multidisciplinary environment. 
  • Commitment to the principles of quality in health care including participation in quality improvement programs relevant to Anaesthesia.  
  • Commitment to and achievement in research and in leading and participating in an education program for clinical staff at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level, demonstrated ability to construct and/or maintain opportunities for research and education.

Qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent to be eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Hold Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) or FRACGP / FACRRM with JCCA.
  • Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program of appropriate bodies is mandatory.
  • Additional qualifications in Intensive Care medicine whilst not mandatory would be highly desirable.
  • Driver's licence

What is on offer?
Remuneration value up to $425,805 p.a., comprising salary between $204,543 - $216,865 p.a. (L25 – L27); or remuneration value up to $389,442 p.a., comprising salary between $171,044 - $198,678 p.a. (L18 – L24);

  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
