An exciting opportunity is currently available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist or Senior Medical Officer or Visiting Medical Officer (General Practitioner) to join Prison Health Services at Maryborough Correctional Centre within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service. The Health Service stretches from Agnes Water in the North to Maryborough in the South and provides acute care services to a population of over 225,000 residents including several rural communities.

Your opportunity:

  • The role of the Senior Medical Officer is to provide high quality, best practice primary health care to prisoners within the assigned scope of practice in Maryborough Correctional Centre, referring patients to hospitals and specialist clinics and other health services as required.

Permanent Full Time (80 hours p.f.) or Permanent Part Time Positions (hours negotiable) *Visiting Medical Officer, up to 64 hours p.f.

Prior to being made an offer of employment, you will be required to demonstrate immunity to the following Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD): Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chicken pox) and Pertussis (whooping cough).

Our offer:

You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $461,256 p.a., comprising salary between $176,802 - $258,910 p.a. (f/t) or salary rates between $84.71 - $124.05 p.h. (p/t) (L13-L27), motor vehicle allowance, professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 week p.a., professional indemnity cover and private practice arrangements. Overtime and on-call allowances will be negotiated with the successful applicant upon appointment. Competitive salary rates between $141.97 - $152.73 p.h. (VMO1-VMO3). Superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) will be applied additionally to the total remuneration value.
