An exciting opportunity is currently available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist or Senior Medical Officer (Paediatrician) to join the Department of Paediatrics at the Bundaberg Hospital within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service. The Wide Bay area is arguably one of the most beautiful regions of Queensland. The Health Service stretches from Agnes Water in the North to Maryborough in the South and provides acute care services to a population of over 200,000 residents including several rural communities.

Your opportunity: The role of the Senior Medical Officer (Specialist) is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to directly or indirectly benefit the patients/clients of the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service and encompasses all the roles described in the CanMEDs framework. This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.
Temporary Part Time (40 hours p.f.) from 20th June 2025 until 27th July 2026 with the possibility of extension
Opportunity for Private Practice:
The successful candidate may have the opportunity to establish private practice outside of their WBHHS appointment with local private hospitals. The successful candidate may receive assistance and concessions with:
- Use of the local private hospital's sessional rooms to allow establishment of practice and referral pathways
- Assistance with credentialling and administrative support to commence private practice
- Introduction to local GP's, physicians and surgeons to facilitate referral pathways.
