An exciting opportunity is currently available for an experienced Peer Worker (Alcohol and Other Drugs) to join the Wide Bay Mental Health & Specialised Services Team at the Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service. The Wide Bay area is arguably one of the most beautiful regions of Queensland. The Health Service stretches from Agnes Water in the North to Maryborough in the South and provides acute care services to a population of over 225,000 residents including several rural communities. The successful applicant will be working closely with individuals impacted by substance use disorders, offering peer support, and promoting recovery in a collaborative, person-centred environment.

Your opportunity:
- Provide lived experience support to consumers of the Alcohol and Other Drugs Services (AODS) that promotes self awareness and growth for the reduction of, or recovery from the use of harmful substances.
- Provide intentional AOD Peer Support and model self defined recovery strategies that support the assessment, intervention and referral of consumers utilising AOD support services for care, harm minimisation support and recovery.
- Provide consumers with education, information, referrals and support from personal experience of recovery and of utilising mental health services and non-government agencies.
Under 25s of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to have a personal lived experience of harmful, disruptive substance use and/or addiction and recovery. This is the skill set of lived experience required for this role.

Our offer:
You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $48,828 p.a., comprising salary rates between $38.82 - $43.17 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (AO3) (Permanent Part Time, 38 hours p.f.)
