About the Team
The Integrated Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) Day Programs provide medium term, intensive mental health treatment and educational support to young people with complex, chronic mental health difficulties which are severely impacting on their functioning.
About the Role
- Deliver mental health services as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, to optimise psycho-social outcomes for young people who present with severe and complex mental health problems and disorders requiring treatment to maximise recovery while providing support to their families and carers. This will include providing mental health assessment, individual therapy, parent/carer support, care coordination and participation in the provision of the group therapy program for young people.
- Deliver quality Speech Pathology assessment and intervention in accordance with the Speech Pathology Australia Code of Ethics, the National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce and the Queensland CYMHS Speech Pathology Scope of Practice.
- Integrate communication services supporting the needs of consumers, carers, clinicians and relevant systems including referral, assessment and formulation, care planning, and systemic work within a recovery framework.
- Continually develop evidenced based knowledge, expertise and practice by participating in continuing supervision, professional development and unit quality improvement activities.
- Actively participate in transdisciplinary activities under direct supervision and work co-operatively and effectively within the multi-disciplinary team for best practice outcomes for young people and carers in their recovery.
- Provide advice and targeted resources to best manage and integrate the communication and mental health needs of Day Program South young people and their carers across family, clinical team and community contexts.
- Prepare timely easily accessible correspondence and reports consistent with standards of practice and accurately record clinical activity in the Clinical Information Mental Health Application (CIMHA).
- As experience develops, provide training and supervision on routine tasks to undergraduate students and post graduates as appropriate, and mentoring to new staff as directed by the CYMHS Clinical Consultant Speech Pathology.
