Web and Graphic Design Officer

As the Web and Graphic Design Officer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality digital assets that support the agency's communication and engagement objectives.
This includes building and updating website pages using WordPress or other content management systems (CMS) and designing visual assets and templates for applications including email marketing (Vision6), social media, digital advertising, and Canva.
The role requires the application of Queensland Government online standards and policies, including accessibility and user experience (UX) to ensure all outputs are visually engaging, user-friendly and aligned with the agency's brand and strategic priorities.

Your opportunity
- Design, build and update website pages and microsites using WordPress or other CMS platforms, applying UX and UI principles to enhance usability and engagement, and ensuring compliance with Queensland Government online standards and guidelines (including WCAG).
- Create high-quality design assets to support communication and engagement activities with a focus on digital media, including website banners and graphics, digital advertising materials, email templates (Vision6), and Canva templates.
- Support the creation of engaging social media visuals for organic and paid media, including static graphics and short-form video content such as reels.
- Coordinate merchandise procurement with external suppliers, including identifying requirements, liaising with clients, sourcing quotes, and coordinating design elements to ensure alignment with branding and project objectives.
- Embed accessibility and inclusive design in all work by ensuring all graphic design and digital outputs are created with accessibility principles in mind while also reflecting brand and style guidelines.
Your skills and experience:
- Experience designing and building websites in WordPress or a similar CMS, including basic HTML/CSS skills.
- Understanding of UX and accessibility standards, particularly WCAG compliance.
- Proficiency in the use of digital design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premier Pro), Canva, Vision6, Figma, or equivalent software or platforms.
- Photography and videography skills are highly desirable, but not essential.
It is highly desirable that the successful applicant holds a degree or higher qualification relevant to the role.
Qualifications and/or industry experience in graphic design, print production, web design (UX & UI), marketing and other related fields would be well regarded.
