The successful candidate will play an integral role in the following:
- Undertake criminal law casework including preparing matters and instructing counsel and personally appearing for legally aided clients at bail applications, pleas, summary trials and committal hearings
- Provide legal information and advice to clients
- Provide duty lawyer services in the Magistrates and Children's courts
- Liaise with criminal justice system stakeholders
You will have:
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and appear in all aspects of criminal law cases in various jurisdictions
- Working knowledge of criminal law practice and procedure, legislation relating to the criminal justice system, the laws of evidence and ethical standards
- Demonstrated ability to conduct quasi criminal matters
