We are looking for First nations Lawyers with experience in criminal law! Legal Aid Queensland is the state’s largest criminal law defence practice. You will represent children and adults charged with criminal offences before all courts in Queensland.

This process will be also be used to create a PO3 order of merit for permanent and temporary fills over the next 12 months

The successful candidates will play an integral role in the following:

  • Undertake criminal law casework including preparing matters and instructing counsel and personally appearing for legally aided clients at bail applications, pleas, summary trials and committal hearings
  • Provide legal information and advice to clients
  • Provide duty lawyer services in the Magistrates and Children's courts
  • Liaise with criminal justice system stakeholders 

You will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and appear in all aspects of criminal law cases in various jurisdictions
  • Working knowledge of criminal law practice and procedure, legislation relating to the criminal justice system, the laws of evidence and ethical standards
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct quasi criminal matters
