District Relief Teacher (DRT) Positions
We are currently seeking interest for full-time District Relief Teacher (DRT) roles across our Ipswich and Brisbane West Secondary schools. If you would like to be considered for a DRT role, please include this within your application.
Location
The Ipswich and Brisbane West area borders around Mount Crosby and Kenmore to Rocklea and Forest Lake, reaches as far as Springfield and Ripley, around to Rosewood in the west and back up to Lowood.
The heart of Brisbane West is Ipswich, which is just 50 minutes from Brisbane City. If you live in Brisbane South or inner west, commuting to work is a breeze, going against peak hour traffic and usually taking only 20 to 30 minutes.
Support for Beginning Teachers
Teacher Learning Centres (TLCs) serve as a vehicle to coordinate high quality teacher professional learning practices including professional development, release time, mentoring, coaching, networking, holistic induction and support for the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST). The Metropolitan TLC has been established as a professional learning centre supporting preservice, beginning and early career teachers as they progress along the teaching continuum.
The intent for the Metropolitan TLC is to provide consistent and streamlined professional learning that empowers confident and capable teaching professionals. We provide a variety of targeted professional learning events for beginning teachers throughout the region, including Beginning Teacher Induction Conferences and Beginning Teacher Networks.
Applicants for these positions must possess:

- Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. Pre-service/graduate teachers must have been granted provisional registration prior to commencing employment as a teacher. For more information regarding registration requirements, please click here.
- In addition to registration, teachers working in Education and Care Services (including State Delivered Kindergarten programs) require an exemption card issued by Blue Card Services. For more information on blue cards and exemption cards, please click here.
- Employment for pre-service/graduate teachers will be subject to the successful completion of a relevant teaching qualification and meeting the minimum requirements as a teacher with the department.
Workers in education settings, including schools, early childhood and care services (such as kindergartens and childcare centres) or Outside School Hours Care, are required to have received the prescribed number of doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by 23 January 2022.
To ensure the Department of Education is complying with this requirement successful applicants will be required to supply supporting evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination for employment to any roles in the designated categories.
