McKinlay Multipurpose Health Service (known as Julia Creek Hospital) provides rural and remote hospital services including a 7 inpatient bed facility, 2 bed residential aged care facility, emergency department and outpatient department. A multidisciplinary model of care is implemented across the continuum with inpatient services supported by a Medical Superintendent.

Your opportunity

The Clinical Nurse (CN) works in the McKinlay Shire MPHS providing advanced professional and clinical leadership in the delivery and coordination of professional, safe and quality patient and family centred nursing care.  The Clinical Nurse is committed to enhancing and enabling patient experience and outcomes by leading support, collaboration, and partnership with patient, families/carers and other health service providers at McKinlay Shire MPHS.

Are you suitable for the role? The ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment in the McKinlay Shire MPHS specialty
  • Knowledge of legislation, professional standards, policy and procedure as they apply to this role
  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate the development of clinical governance and practice standards required in provision and delivery of safe and quality care
  • Proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position

Requirements for the role

While not mandatory, there is an expectation that the ideal applicant will possess, or be working towards, a post graduate qualification in the specialty clinical area.

Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and possession of a current annual licence certificate is mandatory.

The position may involve travel to various facilities or units within the North West Hospital and Health Service.

It is a mandatory condition of employment for this role to be vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases including: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough), and hepatitis B.
