About the benefits
Base salary rates between $77,253 and $99,090 p.a. (f/t) or $38.96 and $49.97 p.h. (p/t) (Nurse Grade 5).
5 weeks p.a. recreational leave with 17.5% loading.
12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
Staff Accommodation may be available or rental subsidy of $82.50 p.w. up to 17 months.
Professional Development assistance: we offer in-house training, development and mentoring programs, a $3,047 p.a. allowance to assist with external development, and 3 days p.a. leave for attending training or conferences.
Rural and Remote Nursing Incentive: two (2) return airfares p.a. (inc. spouse/dependents) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with recreation leave. Annual isolation bonus at the conclusion of 1 year $3,500, 2 years $10,500 and 3rd and consecutive years $7,000.
Sick and long service leave accrual.

About the role
The Mount Isa Hospital Maternity Services hub is the referral centre for all pregnant women in the NWHHS region and for a small Northern Territory community; providing care to women and their families within its' Antenatal service, Antenatal/Postnatal Inpatient Unit, Birthing Unit, Special Care Nursery and Home Visiting program.
It consists of 8 beds, with a 3-bed Birthing Suite and a 3-cot Special Care Nursery. The nursery has CPAP and ventilator capabilities, undertaking short term respiratory support for newborns, or stabilisation before transfer to a tertiary facility for ongoing management.
The unit has approximately 500 births per year.
This role works as part of the team providing women-centred midwifery and newborn care; and is committed to enhancing and enabling patient experience and outcomes by fostering support, collaboration, and partnership with the woman and family and other health service providers at the Mount Isa Hospital.
Requirements and other information
MUST be eligible for registration as a Midwife with AHPRA.
Highly regarded:
- Minimum 2 years post-graduate clinical experience.
- Possession of, or working toward, relevant post-graduate qualifications.
Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
Pre-employment screening will be conducted for successful candidates.
This is a VPD risk role.
Probationary period of 6 months may apply.
