We are currently looking for a Staff Specialist (Anaesthetics) to join a highly motivated team based at the Mount Isa Hospital in far North Queensland providing anaesthetic services within the North West HHS.

This is your opportunity to delvelop areas of clinical interest to you within anaesthesia (including obstetrics and regional), ICU, perioperative medicine, pain management, medical education and well being.

Provide training to anaesthetic trainees and other health professionals and ensure continued evidence-based practice.

The ideal candidate:

  • Skills in epidurals for delivery suite and anaesthsia for obstetrics is required.
  • Scope of Practice in paediatric anaesthesia (5 years and younger).
  • An interest in Intensive Care management of patients.
  • An interest in, or experience in, regional anaesthesia and acute and / or chronic pain management.
  • Fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent.
  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in a relevant clinical specialty.

We have a number of critical industrial facilities in the region and a patient cohort that represents some of the challenges and casemix diversities that clinicians may not have encountered in previous roles.

A permanent full-time role is on offer with job security and flexible working arrangements negotiable (including the potential to work 5 months/year).

A competitive remuneration package is available from between $420,341 and $582,677 p.a. (refer to Annexures A and B in the role description):

  • Base salary rates between $189,408 and $239,377 p.a. (L18-L27)
  • Attraction and retention incentive allowance 50% base p.a. salary
  • Regional and rural attraction allowance 15% base p.a. salary
  • Inaccessibility allowance of $34,500 p.a.
  • Motor vehicle allowance
  • 5 wks p.a. Recreational Leave accumulation with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% super
  • Professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 wks p.a.
