Temporary part-time role available (40 hours p.f.) commencing February 2026 for 6-12 months.

Working with us

    • Remuneration package (based on f/t equivalent value) from $434,969 up to $446,129 p.a (Paid pro-rata for engagement period / part time employee)
    • Base salary ranges between $6,980.10 and $7,198.40 p.f. (L13-L14) (Paid pro-rata for engagement period / part time employee)

About the role

The Mount Isa Hospital Department of Anaesthetics comprises 3 operating theatres and a 5-bed Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit. Procedures are performed in both adults and children, in the speciality areas of general surgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, acute trauma, obstetrics and gynaecology and dental.

As a Senior Medical Officer, Provisional Fellow in Anaesthetics, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide high quality clinical care to patients of the Mount Isa Hospital and support continued improvement of health services by always participating in quality improvement opportunities.
  • Excel in patient safety by active contribution to a framework of sound clinical governance.
  • Experience working life in a remote and remarkable part of Australia.

Requirements

      • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
      • Successfully completed the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) Rural Generalist Anaesthesia (RGA) training program and will be eligible for award of the qualification in RGA on completion of the primary fellowship.
      • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
      • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
      • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
      • A period of probation may apply.
