About Us
The QVA:
- is a virtual education service for students requiring access to a curriculum subject or learning program unavailable at their base school;
- is established under Section 14 of the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 (the Act) as an education institution to offer learning opportunities to complement the educational programs provided to students at their base school;
- supports, connects and coordinates available teacher expertise and quality learning programs, and makes these accessible to more students across Queensland;
- promotes innovation in virtual learning and develops resources and systems for schools and teachers to use in their own contexts.
About the Role
As Deputy Principal, you will provide high-level operations management and planning to facilitate the establishment of QVA. The role requires an ability to lead and manage high quality approaches to teaching and learning to deliver program outcomes within a state-wide network of schools.
Applications are invited for up to four permanent positions of Deputy Principal (DP) as listed in the following service areas at Queensland Virtual Academy (QVA) commencing 24 March 2025:
- Deputy Principal - Curriculum Senior Schooling - Year Level responsibility 11-12
- Deputy Principal - Curriculum Engagement / Pedagogy - Year Level responsibility 7-10
- Deputy Principal - Curriculum Capability Year Level responsibility K-2
- Deputy Principal - Policy, Timetable and School-wide Data
QVA's service delivery model will enable the successful applicant to perform the DP role from any school-based location within the state, coordinated and supported by QVA Central based in Brisbane.
As the key leader of a focussed service area, you will:
- Demonstrate innovative leadership using experience and high-level knowledge of teaching, learning and school improvement strategies.
- Lead and manage a range of high performing teams to develop state-wide delivery strategies that foster quality practices, instructional leadership and quality assured delivery outcomes.
- Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.
- Effectively plan and deploy the targeted use of resources to achieve program goals and high impact learning.
As a member of the QVA leadership team, you will lead and contribute to:
- A team approach to ensure ways of working reflect QVA's vision & culture within the DoE Equity and Excellence strategy.
- Thinking strategically and innovatively in the approaches to curriculum, pedagogy and to the continuous improvement and professional growth of QVA staff and services.
- Promoting a culture of innovation and quality in virtual teaching and learning; prioritise student engagement in strategic and operational planning.
- Leading curriculum development, implementation and quality assurance, internally and externally.
- Providing best practice pedagogical leadership within the context of digital and virtual teaching and learning.
- Building highly capable, confident and expert teaching teams to support school-to-school virtual learning.
