An opportunity exists at Cavendish Road State High School for two permanent Deputy Principals with the capacity to support the Executive Principal in delivering high standards of school operations and leading delegated aspects of the school’s continuous improvement strategy.
The successful candidates will have a proven record in managing
the operations of a large school and will demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and attributes required to confidently lead projects aligned with the school’s strategic and annual improvement objectives, as determined by the Executive Principal.

Key Leadership Capabilities
Leadership capabilities in this role as a Deputy Principal are:
- Have a grasp of system priorities and how they apply to the school's strategic direction and the principles of state schooling generally.
- Understand legislation, particularly as it applies to student management.
- Be outcomes-driven and able to deliver on their portfolios within accountability and time frames, maintaining personal line of sight in achieving these goals.
- Strong leadership experience, as the appointed Deputy Principals will team with the Head of School to provide daily support to the middle leadership team of 15 Heads of Department.
Your Responsibilities
Each Deputy Principal may be assigned to manage students in one of the three sub-schools: Junior, Middle, or Senior. Successful applicants will draw upon their knowledge, skills, and experience to contribute effectively within the Cavendish Road State High School context. Cavendish Road is a high-performing and sought-after school, known for its strong culture of learning, wellbeing, innovation, and teaching excellence.
As the Deputy Principals, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Have experience in and with a large school context, be acquainted with and able to quality assure school management systems with integrity and reliability, and within the broader corporate context, provide timely and accurate advice to ensure systems compliance to a high standard.
- Possess problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal and relational skills, and be proactive in communicating with students, parents, individuals, teams, and the broader school community to maintain professional relationships.
- Assist the Executive Team in focusing on instructional and strategic leadership by ensuring the school's operational matters are seamless and contribute to a calm and well-ordered learning environment.
The most suitable applicants can demonstrate from their current substantive role or a significant period of acting experience:
- Credibility and the ability to develop the professional capability of others
- Support for innovations and professional practice to deliver targeted and impactful teaching and learning
- Contribution to professional learning teams, feedback protocols, and support for professional performance reflection and planning
- Contribution to the maintenance of high standards in school operations and student management
