Tuckshop Convenor - Tingalpa State School

Tingalpa State School is looking for a dedicated Tuckshop Convenor to take charge of the daily operations of our vibrant school canteen. In this hands-on role, you’ll supervise staff, manage food prep, and serve up fresh, nutritious meals in a warm and welcoming environment. If you’re organised, community-minded, and passionate about healthy food, we’d love to have you on our team!

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.53FTE), 40 hours per fortnight + Accumulated Day Off.

Tingalpa State School is a vibrant primary school located just 13km east of Brisbane's CBD, with an enrolment of around 500 students. Over the past five years the school canteen has had various refurbishments and now also includes a Coffee Nook, providing café quality beverages for the parents and staff of the school community. We are interested in a person who is innovative and creative with developing fresh, nutritious, home cooked, child friendly and cost-effective menus to encourage healthy eating options and create interest in our canteen.

  • Plan, prepare, and serve fresh, cooked meals for students and staff
  • Oversee tuckshop operations, including stock ordering, budgeting, and compliance
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety
  • Work as part of a small, collaborative team
  • Prioritise tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Provide outstanding customer service with a friendly, approachable manner
  • Supervise canteen assistant

What You Bring:

  • Food handling experience and understanding of safe food practices
  • Barista experience preferred
  • Knowledge of small business or tuckshop procedures
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • A genuine passion for providing healthy, homemade-style meals
