Who We Are:

Dunwich State School is located within the department's Metropolitan South Region on an island approximately 30kms off the East Coast of Brisbane. Minjerribah / Terrangerri (North Stradbroke Island) is home to around 2156 residents.

Dunwich State School is the only school on Minjerribah / Terrangerri (North Stradbroke Island).

The school caters for students and their families from the three major towns of Point Lookout, Amity Point and Dunwich itself, as well as those living in smaller communities in bush areas outside the townships.

Each town has its own subculture which influences the diversity of the school culture and learning. Point Lookout is tailored to the tourism industry while Amity Point is fishing with Dunwich being business and First Nations based. Children and their families living outside of the townships are also diverse and may have additional and distinct needs.

There are three First Nations clans that comprise the people of Quandamooka. They are Nughi of Moorgumpin (Moreton Island), the Nunukul and Gorenpul of Minjerribah.

Minjerribah / Terrangerri (North Stradbroke Is) is a unique marine and island environment The community has a strong First Nations culture and history.
