Urangan State High School are seeking applications for a curious, creative, and connected educational leader to join our leadership team as Head of Department - Curriculum. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team who are custodians of a long-standing tradition of creative excellence and award-winning opportunities across music, dance, visual arts, and media. This is a temporary full-time position util 25 June 2027, unless otherwise determined.

Urangan State High School is an award winning school with a population of approximately 1300 students from Year 7 to Year 12. With a focus on implementing the curriculum with fidelity, Urangan State High School have a late start for students every Monday and Friday so that our teachers can collaboratively plan curriculum with alignment and precision. This provides an additional 110 minutes of focused planning time each week to our teachers, improving work/life balance.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Lead the department in developing and implementing a shared vision that delivers high-quality, equitable learning outcomes for all students.
  • Foster a culture of high expectations, socially just practices, and continuous professional learning to support excellence in student and staff performance.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with students, families, community groups, and government agencies to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Provide strategic, future-focused leadership while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and departmental requirements.
  • Effectively manage human, financial, curriculum, and physical resources to achieve departmental priorities and improve student success.
