Analytics Engineer

You will be responsible for supporting the Analytics team in day-to-day operations of data engineering and data analytics functions.

This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in cloud-based state of the art data platforms.

You will enhance your data knowledge and software development skills in the areas of data pipelines, data quality, data modelling, data management and data visualisation for the National Injury Insurance Agency, Queensland (NIISQ Agency), Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) and Nominal Defendant (ND) (collectively referred to as the Motor Accident Injury Schemes Queensland or MAIS-Q).

Your role
Assist and support in maintaining the data platform for the purposes of data collection, data transformation, data warehousing and data management services to support business functions.

Deliver analytics and predictive insights through the application of business intelligence tools and AI/ML technology to service business requirements.

Perform and undertake data validation, data cleansing, automation and system testing tasks to support and align with organisational objectives.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members, business areas and key stakeholders.

About you
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate a strong commitment to shared values, and a broad skillset that includes:

  • Open mindset with commitment to continuous learning in an agile environment
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience using relevant tools and technologies such as Python, SQL, PowerBI, Spark/Databricks, ETL tools, Azure cloud services or similar
  • Knowledge of modern data platforms, data pipeline design, and data storage solutions.
  • Understanding of AI/ML capabilities and their applications in driving advanced analytics and data driven decision making
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling productive collaboration with team members and business stakeholders across MAISQ.

Qualifications/Licenses
Whilst no mandatory, tertiary qualifications in Data Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another similar field will be highly regarded.
