Cleveland Education and Training Centre (CETC) is a Department of Education school operating within the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre at Townsville. The Centre's catchment comprises the area graphically north from Rockhampton, west to the border and includes Island communities off the Queensland coastline. Young people incarcerated by the court system are from the ages ten to eighteen years.

Cleveland Education & Training Centre is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that offers a range of pathways and employment focussed VET courses to assist a young person to close individual skills gaps, develop language, develop positive behaviours and social skills and gain knowledge and skills which are a prerequisite for further study or a pathway to employment.

Younger students study Australian Curriculum aligned programs which are designed to assist them to return to mainstream schooling.

As a CETC is a service provider within the Detention Centre all staff are required to comply with a range of safety and security protocols.  From 2022 CETC will deliver education programs within the Detention Centre for 48 weeks of the year. The Governance and Teacher Award Scale are still the same as mainstream schools, however holiday periods will vary.  Staff will be operating on a roster, with their leave allocation falling outside the mainstream school holiday. All staff employed need to be willing and able to take leave outside the school holiday periods to accommodate the roster.
