Head of Special Education Services (H01) - Hughenden State School - Special Education Program (Cluster)

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from an experienced, innovative and student-centred Head of Special Education Services to lead and coordinate inclusive education practices across a cluster of schools.
This is an opportunity to work across a range of remote schools supporting students and staff.
Our cluster consists of Hughenden State School, Richmond State School, Julia Creek State School and Cameron Downs State School.
You will have expertise in inclusive education, case management and legislative requirements to build staff capability, drive evidence-informed practice, and promote a culture of high expectations, equity and continuous improvement.
This is a temporary full-time position until the end of Term 4 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About our Cluster
- Hughenden State School is a Prep to Year 12 school located in the heart of the Flinders Shire, approximately 380 km west of Townsville. The school serves the township of Hughenden and surrounding rural communities. FTE: 0.73 Base school.
- Richmond State School is a Prep to Year 12 school located approximately 110 km west of Hughenden in the Richmond Shire, supporting students from the township and surrounding grazing properties. FTE: 0.11
- Julia Creek State School is a Prep to Year 12 school located approximately 150 km west of Richmond in the McKinlay Shire, serving a close-knit outback community. FTE: 0.11
- Cameron Downs State School is a small primary school located approximately 90 km north of Julia Creek, providing education for students from remote pastoral properties. FTE: 0.05

About the Role
The ideal applicant will:
- Lead inclusive education by coordinating high-quality support, advice and specialised programs to improve outcomes for students with disability and diverse learning needs.
- Build staff capability by providing expert advice, coaching and professional learning on inclusive practices, reasonable adjustments, intervention strategies and access to specialist services.
- Coordinate student support through targeted intervention, case management and effective planning for students requiring substantial or extensive adjustments.
- Drive evidence-informed practice by implementing and monitoring school-wide systems, including data collection, reporting and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD), to support continuous improvement and legislative compliance.
- Foster collaborative partnerships with families, external agencies and community organisations while managing human, financial, curriculum and physical resources to deliver strategic priorities.
