In this role you will:

  • Provide a diverse range of legal advice services (including in relation to statutory interpretation, immediate action decisions, human rights and anti-discrimination matters, public interest disclosures, right to information and information privacy, and summary prosecutions) relevant to the functions of the Health Ombudsman.
  • Undertake litigation before QCAT including drafting of referrals, advising on evidence, holding discussions with legal representatives for practitioners and preparing and appearing in disciplinary matters.
  • Comply with directions, timetables and orders issued by QCAT or other Courts.
  • Prepare for and attend directions hearings.
  • Respond to and enter work promptly onto, Content Manager and Resolve and any other case, document and knowledge management systems as shall be in in use from time to time.
  • Prepare relevant legal and policy documents including submissions, briefs, ministerial and department correspondence, and other relevant legal and policy papers for the Health Ombudsman.
  • Prepare show cause notices for interim and permanent prohibition orders for unregistered health providers.
