Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Gastroenterology and Hepatology)

The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology are looking for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist. The role provide high quality clinical care to patients with disorders of the digestive tract and clinically manage, on a day-to-day basis, the associated multidisciplinary patient care team to ensure the provision of appropriate patient care. In addition, provide professional leadership within Gastroenterology in general in particular, and provide training, education and supervision to junior medical staff and other health care members and contribute to existing or develop own initiatives that aim to improve quality, efficiency or outcomes of services by appropriate quality improvement measures that include research.

About the Role
This role will be required to:

  • Provide within a multi-professional team evidenced-based clinical care to inpatients and outpatients with the whole spectrum of digestive diseases; The position is predominantly based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, but duties may include providing care at other Queensland Health facilities within the Health Services District.
  • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic and other services to in- and outpatients
  • Contribute to administrative responsibilities as required
  • This position supervises registrars, junior house officers and interns.
  • Provision of Gastroenterology services to inpatients in Princess Alexandra Hospital
  • Provision of outpatient clinics in Gastroenterology
