The Queensland Parliamentary Service (QPS) is an independent agency that provides a range of services and facilities to support the operation of the Queensland Parliament.   The Property and Facility Services team is responsible for maintaining and improving the physical environment and support facilities within the Parliamentary Precinct located in inner city Brisbane and in the Electorate Offices of the 93 State Members of Parliament across Queensland.

ABOUT THE ROLE

A permanent, full-time opportunity is available now for a dedicated and professional Cleaner to join our Property and Facility Services team at Queensland Parliamentary Service. The primary objective of this position is to carry out cleaning duties according to the schedule prepared by the Cleaning Supervisor. The successful candidate will help uphold the highest standards of cleanliness within our facilities to ensure a safe, hygienic, and well-maintained environment.

The role includes a mix of the following activities within the Parliamentary precinct:

  • General cleaning (e.g., desks, phones, shelves, etc.).
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, and dusting.
  • Cleaning windows, pictures, doorknobs, tables, taps, sinks, glass doors, cupboards, etc.
  • Waste management, including emptying rubbish bins and disposing of waste.
  • Cleaning and sanitising toilet facilities.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment.
  • Housekeeping services and other specific duties as directed by the Cleaning Supervisor.

This is a shift work position with rostered hours of work scheduled between 6:00am and 6:30pm Monday to Friday.

YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality cleaning services in a commercial and heritage environment.
  • Ability to independently assess cleaned areas to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and follow a prepared work schedule.
  • Strong ability to follow instructions and ask questions if clarification is needed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Physical capacity to perform cleaning duties safely and effectively.
  • A Certificate III Cleaning Operations or equivalent qualification is desirable.
