The Office of Hon Ros Bates, Member for Mudgeeraba, is seeking a highly motivated and professional Assistant Electorate Officer (AEO) to join the Mudgeeraba Electorate Office. This role offers the chance to work closely with local residents, community organisations, and government agencies while supporting the effective operations of a busy and community‑focused office.

Key Objectives

  • Maintain an in‑depth understanding of local issues, community priorities, and the unique needs of the Mudgeeraba Electorate.
  • Support the delivery of high‑quality constituent services and ensure timely responses to enquiries.
  • Contribute to efficient office operations, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide proactive constituent management, including initiating contact with new residents to welcome them and identify any local issues they wish to raise.

Your Role

  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of local Council and Federal divisions, Councillors, portfolios, and MPs.
  • Develop detailed understanding of local roads, state vs council responsibilities, and Police Districts, including Officers in Charge and service areas.
  • Monitor local media, community pages, and stakeholder updates to identify emerging issues.
  • Manage incoming emails, correspondence, and phone calls, and provide professional reception support.
  • Liaise with departments, agencies, and community organisations to resolve constituent matters and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Assist with diary management, meeting preparation, and event coordination for community meetings and mobile offices.
  • Prepare briefing notes, letters, reports, event materials, run sheets, and documentation as required.
  • Maintain accurate records, office supplies, equipment, and overall office presentation.
  • Support mail merges, bulk communications, and general administrative workflows.
  • Assist with social media content preparation, photography, and media coordination when directed.
  • Represent the Member professionally at community events when required.

What We're Looking For

  • A positive, professional attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain strict confidentiality, and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of the local community or willingness to learn quickly.
  • High standards of presentation, punctuality, and professionalism.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required (overtime/TOIL provided).
  • High‑level computer skills, with the ability to confidently use a range of office software and quickly learn new systems and platforms.
  • Exceptional literacy and written communication skills, including experience drafting clear, polished, and professional correspondence.
  • A valid driver's licence is essential.
