Parliamentary Services is seeking a dedicated Assistant Electorate Officer to join Ms Natalie Marr MP, Member for Thuringowa, in the Thuringowa electorate office located in Kirwan, Townsville.
We are looking for a motivated person with excellent communication and people skills who enjoys variety and is happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved across a range of tasks. Our office works as a team and prides itself on treating people with respect and delivering great job satisfaction.
This Assistant Electorate Officer role is focused primarily on administrative support and community engagement, alongside diary management. It also involves providing practical assistance to the Member and the wider team in a busy electorate office.
This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that offers real variety and challenge. Some after-hours and weekend work will be required on occasions. Key Objectives:
- Provide high-quality administrative and executive support to the Member and Electorate Officer.
- Manage diary and scheduling requirements with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support and engage with constituents and community groups to help build strong local relationships.
- Contribute to general office administration and work collaboratively with the team to deliver results.
Your Role:
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the electorate office.
- Engage with community groups both directly and through established forums and events.
- Support community engagement activities and help maintain an organised approach to the Member's local priorities.
- Undertake a range of administrative tasks and be ready to assist wherever needed.
Your Skills:
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and a genuine interest in working with people.
- A confident and compassionate phone manner is essential.
- A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to take on a variety of tasks.
- Comfortable working in a busy environment and adapting to changing demands.
- Experience with social media, filming content, or media-related tasks is an advantage but not essential.
- A solid grasp of the Queensland political landscape and current affairs would be beneficial but is not mandatory.
