The role
As a Scientist within Pathology Queensland, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality diagnostic pathology services. You will apply independent scientific judgment in the analysis of patient specimens, ensuring the verification and validation of test results, while providing clinical advice where appropriate. This position involves performing diagnostic testing and related duties in accordance with accredited protocols and standards within the Anatomical Pathology laboratory. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of scientific practices and protocols, participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with NATA/ISO accreditation, and support education and training for less experienced practitioners.

Your responsibilities include a range of histological tasks, such as embedding, microtomy, special stains, and immunohistochemistry, with a focus on electron microscopy. The role requires effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and broader laboratory settings. You will exercise independent decision-making for workflow management, maintain high attention to detail, and demonstrate a commitment to professional development. Applicants must hold a relevant tertiary qualification in science, and while experience in Electron Microscopy is highly regarded, candidates with a strong histology background and interest in EM are encouraged to apply.
