Key outcomes/Accountabilities

The aim of this role is to:

  • Lead and manage a team to ensure the successful delivery of a complex range of strategic initiatives, legislative, regulatory and policy reforms in line with the Queensland Building Plan.
  • Establish and maintain effective, high-level relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Identify and resolve (or escalate) obstacles, barriers and impediments to project progress through confident consultation and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and provide high level advice to support the seamless implementation of the policy and legislation associated with the Queensland Building Plan.
  • Prepare correspondence including submissions, briefing notes and discussion papers on complex policy issues.
  • Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet the implementation goals and review performance including financial and people to ensure productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness.
  • Undertake priority response projects and tasks as allocated by the Director responsible for Queensland Building Plan implementation.

Candidate attributes

  • Possesses knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of the current policy and legislative environment as it applies to the regulation of the building and construction sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex regulatory implementation including possessing leadership and supervisory skills to manage a team to achieve project outcomes.
  • Possesses highly developed negotiating, interpersonal and written communication skills and cultivates productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate confidently on complex regulatory implementation matters, and to achieve positive outcomes for the QBCC.
  • Demonstrated high level conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
