A rare and exciting opportunity is now available at the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) for a talented Senior Advisor to join the People and Culture team on a permanent basis. QCAA sits at the heart of Queensland’s world-class education system, developing curriculum and assessment frameworks and providing services that support teaching and learning from kindergarten to Year 12. In this role, you will lead a high-performing team of HR Advisors while partnering closely with leaders across the organisation to deliver expert guidance on complex case management and injury and rehabilitation matters. You will add genuine value through strategic business partnering, drive impactful HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives, and help shape contemporary people practices that strengthen organisational capability and culture.

What you will do

In the Senior Advisor role, you will:

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all QCAA stakeholders and provide high level strategic and operational advice and consultancy services, particularly in the areas of business partnering, organisational development, change management, recruitment and selection, flexible staffing options, entitlements and conditions of employment, management of staff and establishment management.
  • Partner with and support staff and managers in resolving complex workplace and staffing issues, including conducting preliminary reviews and providing timely advice to managers for proposed management strategies across a broad range of areas including performance management, absenteeism, health/rehabilitation and long-term absence management and independent medical examinations.
  • Maintain high level knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, enterprise agreements, awards, policies and practices in relation to contemporary human resource practice, particularly within the Queensland Public Sector and ensure all written and verbal advice is consistent across the team.
  • Lead and manage projects across a range of People and Culture functions to deliver high quality solutions and outcomes for clients.
  • Develop, review and implement People and Culture policies, processes and systems while promoting continuous improvement, innovation and creativity.
  • Coach, mentor and develop a small team of Advisors responsible for operational activities, including the provision of advice regarding all staffing movements and accurate payroll, leave and establishment processing by QCAA's payroll provider.
  • Provide advice and develop strategies to proactively support QCAA's workplace health and safety and wellbeing responsibilities and organisational health initiatives.
  • Develop and facilitate briefings, workshops and training sessions to ensure all stakeholders are kept apprised of current workforce practices.
  • Prepare reports, monitor workforce trends, analyse data and proactively initiate relevant action and discussion.
  • Research and analyse contemporary and emerging trends to contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives across QCAA.
