Graduate Urban Planner


The purpose of the role is to assist with the establishment and implementation of statutory land use and infrastructure plans, with a focus on development assessment and infrastructure charges functions, for Cross River Rail Priority Development Areas. The CRRDA is a delegate for the Minister for Economic Development Queensland. The role reports to the Director, Statutory Planning.

Key Responsibilities
• Undertake statutory land use and infrastructure planning tasks for the Planning and Economic Development Team including assisting with policy formulation, strategic planning and development assessment.
• Undertake research in relation to the assessment of development impacts on the Cross River Rail project.
• Review the Economic Development Act 2012, the Planning Act 2016, the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 (if relevant) and other statutory instruments applicable in respect to land use and transport planning matters.
• Review a range of technical material to assist in providing advice on the implications and risks arising from development activity.
• Participate in the assessment of development applications which includes writing reports, collecting required information, providing supporting documents from consultants, calculating fees, checking drawings and critically reviewing consultant documentation.
• Attend site evaluations, which includes researching policy for site, and provide risk management to directors.
• Maintain appropriate and effective liaison and communication with internal staff, state and local government agencies, the community and other stakeholders.
• Provide timely, high level written and oral advice on land use and urban planning matters relating to the safety and efficiency of the transport network.
• Prepare ministerial correspondence, briefs and reports for the CEO / Delivery Authority as required.
• Facilitate optimal outcomes during the urban planning process.
