The position reports to the Customer and Travel Behaviour Manager and will be required to undertake significant internal and external engagement to support accessibility outcomes

The position will work within the Customer and Operational Integration area in the Customer and Travel Behaviour Team and be responsible for working with multiple stakeholders to manage accessibility outcomes and provide assurance that the project is achieving accessibility objectives as set out in the CRRDA Accessibility Plan.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
The key responsibilities to successfully perform the role of Accessibility Advisor are as follows:
  • Manage and foster effective networks with key stakeholders from the disability sector, identifying and monitoring potential risks to accessibility outcomes and CRRDA.  
  • Engage internally and externally to influence planning and operations to support positive outcomes for all customers. 
  • Organise, facilitate and drive outcomes from key engagement forums including CRR Accessibility Steering Committee. 
  • Drive the implementation of the CRRDA Accessibility Plan including the management of key projects to raise awareness and educate employees to ensure positive accessibility outcomes are achieved.  
  • Facilitate the provision of specialist advice on compliance with relevant Disability Discrimination Legislation and Standards in a public transport environment.  
  • Maintain project reporting including risk registers, program schedules and monthly presentations to track progress and risks regarding accessibility.  
  • Report progress and manage issues and risks on accessibility outcomes, escalating to the Customer and Travel Behaviour Manager with solutions and mitigation measures.

Key Competencies

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following key competencies: 

  • Experience in managing accessibility projects in a transport context. 
  • Written and verbal communication that is clear and concise, models open communication and actively and attentively listen to others. 
  • Strong skills in collaboration, with an ability to understand audiences and adapt style accordingly. Highly capable of presenting technical information in a consumable format to drive decisions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively analyse situations, identify and implement practical and innovative strategic solutions especially regarding Accessibility in the public transport context.  
  • Knowledge of relevant Disability Discrimination legislation.
