Your passion for learning and creating exceptional visitor experiences will see you facilitate a variety of programs and activities including 'Ask an Expert' Inquiry Service, delivering workshops, events, school programs, talks, and community events.

As part of the Discovery Centre team at Queensland Museum this role plays and important part in highlighting our unique collections and research, exhibitions, resources and staff expertise - onsite, online and offsite - across Queensland Museum (QM) and Queensland.

The ideal candidate is passionate about engaging diverse visitors, with the ability to adapt your communication in relevant, meaningful, and enjoyable ways.

Please note that there are both part time and casual positions, with varying work hours available.

The Experience Coordinator will;

  • Provide quality, front-of-house inquiry service that reflects high levels of customer service, encourages visitors to use QM resources, and supports visitor learning while contributing to a creative and supportive team culture.
  • Communicate and present knowledge and understanding of QM's collections and research disciplines (including biodiversity, geoscience, cultures and history and/or science and technology).
  • Engage with visitors and stakeholders through informal engagement and formal programs.
  • Contribute to the delivery of an annual plan and program for diverse visitors and priority audiences' engagement online, onsite and offsite.
  • Work as part of a team, to set priorities, meet deadlines and provide clear and concise communication.
  • Act as an interface between the public and foster collaborative relationships internally to deliver high quality services, programs and resources.
  • Provide accurate, up-to-date advice in response to inquiries and identifications for QM, its exhibitions and programs and fields of interest; refer inquiries to an appropriate expert source; raise awareness of research and other QM activities.
  • Deliver programs in person and online for visitors and priority audiences such as talks, workshops, and other group and school activities, using appropriate learning strategies and where relevant, aligned to Australian Curriculum.
  • Contribute to and maintain activities, resources, and displays within the Discovery Centre and exhibitions and programs presented at Queensland Museum.
  • Comply with QM policies, procedures and appropriate legislation including a commitment to creating a child safe and youth friendly learning environment.
  • Contribute to the safety culture of QM by reporting all incidents and hazards and ensuring work is undertaken in the safest way possible, following all QM WHS policies and/or procedures and guidelines relevant to the job.
