The Clinical Measurement Scientist (Sleep) provides overnight sleep disorder patient diagnostic and treatment investigations, sleep disorder therapy intervention, and reporting, and is responsible for routine operational activities within the Sleep Laboratory during overnight shifts. The position contributes to service development, education, research and review activities.

About the Role

  • Effectively undertake rostered overnight polysomnographic monitoring, scoring and reporting duties with competence and accuracy and participate in laboratory technical and service development, and education research as required.

  • Perform sleep investigations, including treatment initiation and titration, accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner, whilst maintaining patient investigation standards through the application of evidence-based practices in accordance with current laboratory procedures and guidelines and Queensland Health policies and directives.

  • Ensure investigation outcomes are optimised by the provision of necessary patient care in accordance with current laboratory & Metro North HHS procedures and guidelines, and individual patient needs.

  • Actively participate in the clinical, educational, and training activities of the multidisciplinary team and undertake development of knowledge and skills in accordance with current laboratory accreditation standards, guidelines and practices. 

  • Provide clinical practice and operational supervision to less experienced polysomnographic staff, work experience students, and/or those involved in observational clinical placements.
