The role of the Senior Doctor is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to directly or indirectly benefit the patients/clients of the Metro North Hospital and Health Service. This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future. In addition to the key responsibilities listed below, the role of the Senior Medical Officer (Specialist) is to provide such services as may be reasonably directed from time to time by your line manager as outlined on the Organisational Chart, including any intra-department portfolios allocated from time to time as outlined above.

Two of our five hospitals – Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) and The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) – are tertiary/quaternary referral hospitals, providing state-wide super specialty services, such as heart and lung transplantation and burns treatment. About the Role

Oversee and lead the clinical governance of the Department and ensure best practice.

Collaboratively contribute to monitoring and managing the budget and actual performance for Activity (WAU), Staff (FTEs) and Costs ($) and Quality for the Department, including patient safety, incident management, future planning and budgeting.

Undertake performance appraisal PAD and KPI monitoring of other senior doctors within the department.

Ensure rostering to provide appropriate clinical cover as well as manage recruitment and performance of staff within the department.

Ensure appropriate representation at (Medical) leadership and clinical quality meetings on behalf of the department.
