About us:

The Central Sterilising Department (CSD) is a critical service to the Rockhampton Hospital, reprocessing high volumes of reusable surgical instruments and other patient care related equipment daily. CSD functions within a team focused environment, to maintain objectives in productivity, which contributes directly to the continuum of patient care.

About the role:

The Enrolled Nurse (EN) in the Central Sterilising Department provides comprehensive, evidence-based, delegated reprocessing/sterilising practices under the supervision/indirectly of the Registered Nurse. The Enrolled Nurse CSD reports directly to the Nurse Unit Manager of the Central Sterilising Department.

A Nurse Grade 3 is an Enrolled Nurse who supports a Registered Nurse (RN) / Registered Midwife (RM) in the provision of person-centred care as specified by registration requirements, Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA) standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation, and context of care.

About you:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is mandatory.
    • A Certificate III in Sterilising Services is a mandatory requirement for this position.
    • Consideration may be given to applicants who can provide proof of actively and progressively studying towards completion of the Certificate III.
    • CSD is a highly productive environment, this position requires all CSD personnel to undertake a variety of manual handling tasks daily in the CSD, such as standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, bending, and stretching. In addition to taking part in the cleaning of contaminated reusable medical devices.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $86,259 is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $35.92 - $38.12 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
