Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) is an independent regulator for worker safety and health across Queensland's mining, quarrying, petroleum, gas, and explosives industries, and is seeking a motivated, experienced and suitably qualified person to work as an Inspector of Mines (Electrical).

This role sits within RSHQ's Coal Inspectorate and offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in achieving improved safety and health outcomes for coal mine workers in Queensland.

Job details

As an Inspector of Mines, Electrical, you will be responsible for carrying out the functions of an inspector ensuring that the coal mining industry operates at an acceptable level of risk.

You will provide technical advice on a range of mining safety and health matters to industry, the government, and the community - in particular, on aspects relating to electrical matters at surface and underground coal mines.

You will ensure compliance activities are applied in line with RSHQ's Compliance and Enforcement Policy, provide the Senior Inspector of Mines Electrical and senior management authoritative, professional and timely advice on issues related to mines in the Region to enable informed, data-driven, and risk-based decisions. Among other regulatory activities you will also assist in the review of legislation and standards and represent RSHQ on technical and seminar/conference committees.
