Senior Communication and Media Officer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Communication and Media Officer to join the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA). In this role, you will plan, write and continuously improve internal and external content, media and engagement campaigns that inform, educate and connect with our customers, people and stakeholders.
You'll enjoy variety and work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team within a customer-focused environment that values your professional judgement, strategic thinking and contributions. As a trusted business partner, you'll provide clear, strategic and practical communication and engagement advice and content, identifying and responding quickly and effectively to planned, emerging and urgent changes, risks and opportunities.
This position is a fixed-term, full-time role until 30 July 2027 and is located in the Brisbane CBD.

As a Senior Communication and Media Officer, you'll help deliver communication and engagement activities that support the RTA's customers, people and organisational priorities. Working across media relations, content development, digital channels and corporate communication, you'll create clear and accessible communication that informs, educates and connects with diverse audiences.
Partnering with subject matter experts and business areas across the organisation, you'll develop content, coordinate media enquiries, monitor emerging issues and trends, and use insights and feedback to continuously improve communication outcomes.
This is a hands-on generalist communication role working across media, content, digital, engagement and organisational initiatives. You'll bring strong communication skills, sound judgement and a collaborative approach while building trusted relationships and delivering communication and engagement outcomes that support customer understanding, confidence in the RTA and awareness of its services. You'll also be adaptable, open to learning and comfortable working at pace in an environment focused on continuous improvement and supporting organisational priorities.

To be successful you will need:
- Demonstrated experience in planning, writing, editing and evaluating communication and engagement activities
- Experience delivering content across media, digital, web, social and corporate channels
- Ability to build trusted relationships and achieve shared outcomes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, high attention to detail and the ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible content
- Ability to manage competing priorities, respond to change and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in a communication, media or public relations role within a corporate, government or customer-focused environment will be highly regarded.
