They are an integral member of the multidisciplinary health care team who practices autonomously but in collaboration with others to assess and manage patients within their clinical context using expert nursing knowledge and skills at an advanced level based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia – Registered Nurse Standards of Practice.
Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

The Nurse Practitioner will primarily provide direct expert nursing care and will initiate, implement and monitor relevant interventional therapies and interpret diagnostic pathology as part of the role which also includes the authority to prescribe medications and initiate direct referrals to other healthcare professionals. This position will be integral to the ongoing Alcohol and Drugs of Dependence Service transformation to a tertiary level providing best practice models, inclusive of families/carers and contemporary partnerships, to meet the needs of people with substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being understand to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 8 and the Queensland Public Service values.
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
Remuneration value up to $14,816 p.m., comprising salary between $5721.10 - $5973.00 p.f., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 8) (Fixed Term Temporary Full time, 76 hrs p.f. ASAP start for six months with possibility of extension).
