An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Nurse to join the Child Youth and Family Health Services to support and enhance the capacity of state schools with secondary students to develop structures and environments that promote the health and wellbeing of young people, and to provide secondary school aged young people with access to a limited primary health care service within the school.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide an opportunity for young people in secondary school to access health information, advice, support, brief intervention, and referral through confidential individual health consultations.
  • Facilitate the development of partnerships and work collaboratively with young people, their families, the school community, and other services and agencies to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion programs and activities, to address the youth health issues and to improve access to services.
  • Support schools to use a whole of school approach to health promotion (Health Promoting Schools framework) to encourage a coordinated and comprehensive approach to the planning and implementation of school policies, programs, activities and environments.
  • Act as a resource person for the school and broader community about youth health issues by providing current evidence, information and support.

Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $115, 604 p.a., comprising salary rates: $54.44 - $58.30 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (NG 6) (Fixed Term Temporary, Part time, 45.6 - 60.8 hrs p.f for up to 9 months and any further periods leave coverage for up to 12 months as required).
