An exciting opportunity exists for a Data Scientist to spearhead the end-to-end analytics lifecycle for foundational machine-learning and AI solutions: formulating statistical hypotheses, designing and validating rigorous models, and operationalising production-ready pipelines using Python, SQL/NoSQL and cloud-based MLOps platforms. Partnering closely with clinical leaders, informatics specialists and programme managers, the Data Scientist will translate complex nursing workflows and electronic-medical-record data into governed, bias-monitored algorithms that measurably improve staffing safety, roster efficiency, patient-safety indicators and hours-per-patient-day forecasting.

Key responsibilities include:
- This role works under legislation and guidance pertaining to data handling and protection, medical devices maintenance and IT acceptance and deployment in the SCHHS and Queensland Health. You will need to be able to both understand and explain those principles and raise alarm if risks are detected.
- Conduct cutting-edge research in machine learning and AI with applications in nursing and healthcare.
- Identify, design, and implement new methodologies and techniques to solve complex nursing-related problems.
- Develop, test, and optimize machine learning models and AI algorithms to improve patient care and nursing workflows in accordance with Queensland Health data-privacy and IT-deployment standards.
Remuneration value up to $182 185 p.a., comprising salary between $150 906 - $159 677 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (AO8) (temporary position available for 24 months).
