This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

About the Role

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will play a vital role in maintaining the school's grounds and facilities to a high standard. You will work closely with the Principal, Business Manager, or a nominated delegate to ensure the school environment is safe, clean, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining school grounds, including mowing, watering, weeding, and general garden care.
  • Ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, including safe storage and handling of chemicals and equipment.
  • Coordinating the removal and disposal of rubbish and maintaining outdoor facilities such as sports courts and fields.
  • Performing general repairs and maintenance tasks, such as fixing fences, gates, and irrigation systems.
  • Ordering and collecting grounds care supplies and materials as authorised by the school leadership team.

This role would suit someone who is proactive, enjoys working outdoors, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment for the school community.

About You

The following traits would be beneficial:

  • Experience in grounds care and general maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines.
  • Ability to operate and maintain grounds care equipment such as mowers and brush cutters.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A friendly and confident approach to working within a small team.
