An experienced and innovative educator is being sought to join the Nerang State High School team in the position of Deputy Principal from February 2026 to the end of 2026.
You will be one of three Deputy Principals, with roles loosely aligned across junior, middle and senior schooling.
This role is responsible for the management of the senior students, along with the school timetable and HR requirements.
The role also focuses on leading the school in systemic initiatives relating to whole school Literacy, Numeracy and Differentiation.

About the School:
Nerang State High School is a co-educational, non-selective, public school for students from 12 to 17 years of age.
Nerang State High School offers a breadth of curriculum to cater for both tertiary and vocational pathways, including our Academic Excellence, Quality Arts, VET Trades, VET Sports and Volunteering programs. The school has two phases of education; Junior Secondary for students in Years 7 to 8, Middle Secondary for students in Years 9 to 10; and Senior Secondary for Years 11 to 12. The Junior and Middle curriculum is based on the Australian Curriculum eight key learning areas and enhanced in Years 11 and 12 with choice of over 30 QCAA General, Applied and Short-Course subjects, along with AQF vocational training certificates.

Step Into Your Next Chapter:
- Working as a key member of the school leadership team to implement the whole school explicit improvement agenda, with a focus on building teacher capability and student engagement.
- Leading the building and staffing of the school timetable, in consultation with other school leaders.
- Leading the provision of ongoing professional development in the school, with a focus on Professional Learning Teams, pedagogy improvement and school in systemic initiatives.
- Driving the planning and implementation of whole school initiatives to improve student literacy and numeracy outcomes.
- Responsibility for academic reporting, Endorsement, Confirmation, external exams and QCE attainment.
- Leading the school in systemic initiatives that provide increased Quality Assurance.
- Engaging in systemic initiatives that provide rigorous monitoring of underperforming senior students and appropriate actions to improve performance or develop alternative educational pathways.
- Leading and line-managing a designated group of Heads of Departments.
- Leading the development and implementation of programs to support disengaged senior students and their caregivers.
- Using high-level analytical skills to develop strategic actions and implement these through influencing, delegation and teams.
- Leading the improvement of outcomes for students transitioning into post high school destinations.
- Active participation in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Understanding and communicating the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
- Investigating and managing behaviour incidents.
- Track, analyse and share student data that leads to improved attendance, effort and behaviour.
- Provide a holistic approach to student management and welfare that is both enabling and proactive.
- Identify ways in which the resources of the local community can be accessed and used.
- Strategic development and implementation of an annual budget.
