Library Technician
Southbank
State Library is seeking a solutions focused library technician who will work closely with the Team Leader, eResources Management in the acquisition, activation and maintenance of access to electronic information resources. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of bibliographic, acquisition and license records for the Library's electronic resources as well as gathering of usage statistics.You must hold an Australian Library and Information Association accredited library technician qualification and ideally have sound experience with bibliographic records, acquisitions processes and troubleshooting authentication issues.

Duties and responsibilities we'll trust you with
- Supporting the delivery of a high quality onsite and statewide professional library services for diverse collections and to a broad client base while meeting State Library's service commitments
- Participating in a high performing team within one of the Content & Client Services branches, in the delivery of sustainable and supportive services. This includes being responsive to our clients, meeting key service objectives and organisational priorities
- Delivering high quality service to clients through expertise and experience in one or more of the following:
- Undertaking creation and maintenance of acquisition records, receipting and invoicing activities, and processing of library materials including eresources. Copy cataloguing and description for published and unpublished collections, in accordance with current international, national and local standards, in a range of subject areas across all formats. This function requires a high level of attention to detail and performing within agreed timeframes while working in a client focused environment.
- Undertaking the activation and maintenance of access to electronic information resources, maintaining authentication and licensing records and gathering of electronic resource usage statistics in a timely manner for quarterly reporting. Importing and copy cataloguing of vendor supplied descriptive metadata records for electronic resources and maintaining electronic resource descriptive metadata records.
- Participating and contributing to the development and delivery of client and staff presentations and training programs as well as the creation of supporting documentation and materials. This includes ensuring that all information presented is both current and relevant
- Contributing to the team annual program schedule and participating in the branch planning process to ensure that relevant, appropriate and meaningful library and information services are delivered to library clients
- Collaborating and building strong relationships with key stakeholders across government, other library industry staff and the professional bodies to ensure that the library and information services are targeted, relevant and appropriate. This includes building and maintaining awareness of current library trends, being up to date on current research techniques, technology, products and services as well as client requirements
- Participating in internal committees, projects and working groups while collaborating with other teams across State Library. This includes providing high quality support and engagement to staff and clients
- Contributing to business improvement activities and adhering to relevant policies and procedures to ensure collection, research and client services meet best practice and State Library requirements. This also includes a continuous improvement cycle for feedback, raising concerns and generating solutions
- Working effectively with colleagues and peers while contributing to a productive and positive work environment in times of change and uncertainty. This includes being a proactive member of the team and providing guidance and/or mentoring to subordinate staff, casual employees and/or volunteers ensuing they are included, supported and well informed
