black&write! is a highly regarded national project based at the State Library of Queensland. Over the past 13 years the program has delivered significant benefits to Australian literature through extensive development of new First Nations writers and editors.
As a member of our black&write! team you will apply your keen editorial skills to participate in editorial development, reporting and training activities, as well as assisting with the administration of the black&write!
A key focus of this role will be contributing to the editorial development of manuscripts received through the black&write! Writing Fellowship competition, under the supervision of the black&write! Senior Editor.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Participating in editing training and skill development activities, including attending relevant workshops and/or development opportunities
- Supporting the delivery of the black&write! as a high quality, inclusive, creative and engaging program that champions new First Nations authors.
- Contributing to the editorial development of manuscripts received through the black&write! Writing Fellowships
- Providing event and venue support for relevant black&write! and State Library events as well as attending literary and publishing industry events where applicable.
- Working effectively with colleagues and peers while contributing to a productive and positive work environment.
