Tell me more...The Senior Occupational Therapist will deliver a culturally safe and responsive Senior Occupational Therapy service within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service organisational goals. The role will work within a rural generalist Occupational Therapy scope of practice, which may include skill sharing clinical tasks between professions, delegation to support workers, and use of telehealth/ehealth solutions to optimise service access for rural and remote communities.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated application of high-level knowledge, expertise and skills in rural generalist Occupational Therapy clinical practice and capacity within a multi-cultural context with a high proportion of First Nations people.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills and the ability to collaborate with and provide advice to colleagues and senior management regarding clinical service development and business planning processes relevant to the delivery and development of Occupational Therapy services.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently apply evidence-based principles in clinical decision-making to facilitate treatment for complex Occupational Therapy problems.

Requirements for the role:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a ‘C' Class Drivers Licence. An appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
  • It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 (Health Employment Directive No. 12/21 and Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70).
