About the Role:
The Resident Medical Officers (Rotational) develop robust clinical and interpersonal skills to maximise professional development with a view to independent practice or proceeding to specialist training.
Assistance with the teaching of students is an important adjunct to this role.

This role also provides supervision /mentoring of Junior Medical staff including inpatient care and may include some responsibility for providing teaching, Medical Students and Allied Health staff.

Salary Information for a Resident Medical Officer (Rotational) L2 – L3:

Total Package of up to $120,090 p.a., comprised of a salary between $85,521 - $111,679 p.a. and the following :

  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
  • Salary packaging

The Townsville Hospital and Health Service includes 18 hospital and community campuses and 2 aged care facilities; it covers an area roughly two and a half times the size of France and provides complex, high level services to more than 600,000 residents across a wide range of specialities.

The Townsville University Hospital facility is a state-of-the-art tertiary referral hospital (the only tertiary hospital in North Queensland) and is the major teaching hospital for the James Cook University's schools of medicine, nursing and allied health and for the Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE. Referrals are from across North Queensland, as far north as Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Strait Islands, and west to Mount Isa and the Gulf of Carpentaria and even overseas from Papua New Guinea.
